Former Finalists From BBC's Scotland's Home of the Year Selling Property Through Bowman Rebecchi
The owners of a pristine Greenock property which appeared in a hit BBC show are selling up.
Lynne Rideout and husband Robert live in Elmhurst, a period main-door conversion house in the town’s west end.
After six and a half years in the property, the pair have put it on the market for offers over £440,000.
Their incredible home appeared in the 2023 series of the BBC’s Scotland’s Home of the Year programme.
It impressed the show’s judges with its rich interior and original features, winning the west of Scotland heat and reaching the final.
Elmhurst was also a finalist in the Tele’s Inverclyde's Best Home competition last year.
But after more than half a decade in the house, Lynne, who owns a hairdressing business, says it is time to move on.
The 56-year-old told the Tele: "We've been toying with the idea since last summer and decided to take the plunge and go for it.”
The property dates back to the late 1800s and was originally owned by shipping magnate Robert Reid Patterson.
When they moved in just before Covid, the couple decided to restore the property to give it a look that kept with the period in which it was built.
The result is a jaw-dropping Victorian home with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and two reception areas.
Asked why she would want to leave such a lovely house, Lynne said: "We like a challenge and doing up places.
"It's almost like a hobby sourcing pieces for our home and making it what we want it to be.
"Robert is my second husband and we have been married for 10 years, and this is our third house.”
14-foot high ceilings.
It also has a TV room with a bar area and decking to the rear leading onto the large garden.
Lynne said: "We also have lovely views overlooking the garden and you can see all the cruise ships sailing by."
The homeowner says she and her husband won’t be moving far and said Gourock or Greenock’s west end are in their sights.
She added: "My heart is in a period property.
“We are waiting to see how it goes with our house first. We have our eye on a couple of properties."
