Businessman Gets Green Light To Turn Gourock Annexe Into A Home

A local developer has been given the go-ahead to make external alterations to the annexe of a former hotel in Gourock.

Scott Gage of Gage Ecosse Joinery Ltd wants to block up two entrance doors and install a replacement window, patio doors and a canopy on the property's ground floor.

Also included in the plans is blocking up one entrance door and two windows and the installation of three replacement windows on first floor.

Mr Gage spoke to the Telegraph back in April about his plans to transform the former annexe into a two-bedroom home at the site on Cove Road.

His planning application, supported by Rebecchi Architectural, has been granted by council officials with a number of conditions.

The businessman, who is based in Shore Street, said that he hopes that a local family will enjoy the property when his redevelopment of the site is completed.

The hotel building had lain empty and in an increasingly sorry state for several years after the bar closed suddenly in May 2016 - but is now home to the 1830 Eatery and Harbour Lets.

The restaurant opened in the summer of 2022 and local firm Bowman Rebecchi launched Harbour Lets in 2024, transforming the rest of the main building into short-term lets.
