Approval Renewed For Proposed Port Glasgow Retail Unit

Planners have renewed permission for a shop to be built on the final vacant plot at Gallagher Retail Park in Port Glasgow.

Approval was granted in April 2022 for a 280-square-metre retail unit at Ardgowan Street, next to what is now the Jollyes pet store.

Work has never started on the development. A condition of approval was that construction had to begin no later than three years from the date of the proposal being given the go-ahead.

An application to renew permission was submitted last year and has now been agreed by officials.

The report by planners in April 2022 stated: “The proposal will remove a comparatively neglected and vacant site. Such a development would also bring employment and contribute positively to the local economy.”

No indication has been given about what kind of shop it would be.
