Career Ready Internship Blog - Hear From James Tracey

Inverclyde’s Home of Property - Bowman Rebecchi has welcomed a new intern as part of its partnership with Career Ready, a national social mobility charity that supports young people to get into work.

The programme provides support to young people as they transition from S5 into S6 with a paid month-long internship alongside 18 months of mentoring support from the business.

The property firm welcomed James Tracey as our new intern for 2025-26, with the internship taking place across June 2026 based at Bowman Rebecchi’s office in Gourock.

James shares her insight into the experience with his blog below:

“My name is James, and I have lived in Port Glasgow for my entire life. Growing up in Inverclyde has given me a strong connection to the local area and the community around me. Throughout my life, I have enjoyed spending time with friends and family, as well as following football, which has always been one of my biggest interests. These hobbies have helped me develop important qualities such as teamwork, communication, commitment, and the ability to build strong relationships with others.”

“This summer, I have been fortunate enough to undertake an internship with Bowman Rebecchi, a well-established and respected property and commercial agency operating across Inverclyde and beyond. The opportunity to gain real-world experience within a professional business environment is something that I am extremely excited about, as it allows me to step outside of the classroom and gain a practical understanding of how a successful organisation operates on a day-to-day basis.”

“One of the main reasons I was interested in joining Bowman Rebecchi was the opportunity to develop new skills that will benefit me both personally and professionally in the future. I believe that internships provide invaluable learning experiences that cannot always be gained through education alone. By working alongside experienced professionals, I hope to improve my communication skills, build confidence in the workplace, strengthen my problem-solving abilities, and gain a greater understanding of professional standards and expectations.”

“Another aspect of the internship that I am particularly looking forward to is meeting new people. Working within a professional environment offers the chance to interact with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, each bringing their own knowledge, experience, and expertise. Building relationships with colleagues and industry professionals will not only help me expand my network but will also allow me to learn from those who have developed successful careers within the property sector.”

“A key objective for me during this internship is to gain first-hand experience of what it is like to work in a professional setting. While education provides important theoretical knowledge, there is no substitute for experiencing the realities of the workplace. Through my time at Bowman Rebecchi, I hope to gain a deeper understanding of workplace culture, professional communication, teamwork, and the responsibilities that come with contributing to a successful business.”

“Perhaps the aspect I am most excited about is learning more about the real estate industry and everything that it involves. Before beginning this internship, my understanding of the property sector was limited to what I had seen from the outside. However, I know that the industry is far more complex than simply buying and selling properties. Throughout my placement, I am eager to learn about the various services Bowman Rebecchi provides, including residential sales, commercial property, marketing, client relations, property valuations, negotiations, and the many processes that take place behind the scenes to deliver successful outcomes for clients.”

“I believe that learning directly from experienced professionals will be one of the most valuable aspects of this opportunity. Everyone within the business has developed their own expertise and perspective, and I look forward to absorbing as much knowledge as possible from the team.
